1st January 2023 – New Year, New Toy

Happy New Year! I’m posting this whilst gently hungover, so I hope you enjoyed your celebration as much as I did!

I don’t really believe in new year’s resolutions but what I do believe in is new sex toys. With that in mind, I think that we can all create a new year’s resolution to buy a new toy that we can enjoy alone or with a partner. This activity is about treating yourself, engaging in self-care and experimenting with new things.

Today’s instructions are split into two parts. Part 1 is to find a new toy for you to play with (suggestions are included) and Part 2 is to play with that toy once you have it.

Rules and Information:

  • You can orgasm at any time. This is not about orgasm control.

  • You will need a new toy. Your new toy for the year doesn’t need to be purchased. It could be a household object that you’ve never experimented with or a toy you bought long ago and haven’t had time to try out yet. Don’t feel obliged to spend money.

Part 1: Selecting a new toy

Whether you have a drawer full of toys or you’ve never bought one in your life, sex toys remain one of the funnest things to shop and search for. That said, if you don’t have the funds to buy a new toy, youc an still have fun – you just get to be extra creative.

Here are some ideas for sex toys you might want to try, as well as the occasional recommendation based on my experience.

  • Household items – it’s easy to find spanking implements to try out but there are a surprising number of vibrating household items that could also rub you the right way. This article has a few ideas to get you started but make sure that you’re safe and sensible! Always clean items before and after use and for penetrative play, use lube where you can.

  • Dildos – a classic choice that comes in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and specifications.

  • Regular vibrators – another classic toy that also comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, bullet vibes to wand vibes. Find one that suits your budget and familiarity.

  • Remote-controlled vibrators – I’ve purchased 3-4 remote-controlled vibrators and I can firmly say that Lovense create some of the best toys on the market. I highly recommend the Lush 3 (which I own) if you have the money and want to try remote or long-distance play.

  • Clit suction toys – these toys create a gentle sucking that emulates oral and is a lot gentler that traditional vibration. A great option if you have a particularly sensitive clit or just want to try something new.

  • G-spot stimulators – some toys are specifically designed to stimulate the G-spot. These can be great introductory toys and over an alternative to traditional dildos or vibrators.

  • Butt plugs – these toys are one of the best ways to experiment with butt stuff in a comfortable environment. The key to enjoying anal is to feel calm and relaxed. It’s always better to practise alone with a butt plug before trying with your partner.

  • Anal beads – more advanced anal toys for those that have got comfortable with butt plugs and want to try the next step. As with all anal experimentation – use lube!

  • Vibrating underwear – can make for a great introduction public play or exhibitionism if you’re considering giving it a try.

  • Nipple clamps – for some these toys are a little too intense but for those that like them, clamps can take nipple play to a whole new level.

  • Nipple suckers – these slightly more unknown toys are designed to emulate the sensation of someone sucking on your nipples. They can be great for freeing up your hands during solo play so that you can focus on touching other areas of yoru body, without sacrificing the pleasure from your nipple stimulation.

  • Spanking implements – paddles, riding crops, floggers and other spanking implements can add additional spice to your impact play when you’re alone or with a partner.

  • Accessories – handcuffs, blindfolds, rope, restraints, gags, collars and much more is out there to spice up your play sessions without direct stimulation. Consider trying a new one and seeing how it feels.

Part 2: Play

  • Find somewhere private and experiment with your new toy.
