15th March 2021 – Masturbation and Self-Care

In a time when half the world is still in lockdown after more than a year since the COVID-19 pandemic started, mental health is playing increasingly important role in our everyday lives.

I’ve been feeling mellow recently, which has made me think more and more about the importance of mental health and self-care. Ever since I started this project, I have emphasised the importance of viewing masturbation as an act of self-care and I stand by it. That said, masturbation is not the only form of self-care you can engage in, which is what we’ll be exploring in tandem with our solo play, today.

With that in mind, the rules are simple.


Rules and Information:

  • You can orgasm at any time. This is not about control.

  • Engage in an act of self-care before you play. Everyone is different and what you do to make yourself feel happy is unique to you. I’ve supplied some ideas below, though, just in case you don’t know where to start.

  • Aside from this, use whatever techniques you prefer. Your solo play is for you and nobody else. Enjoy it however you choose.

Self-care Ideas

  1. Set aside a responsibility-free evening of ice cream and movies.
  2. Dance to your favourite music (don’t just listen – dance)
  3. Go somewhere public and people watch
  4. Create something (draw, craft, colour, knit – anything creative)
  5. Start a new hobby
  6. Research and learn about a new interest
  7. Spend time outdoors
  8. Call an old friend or family member who you haven’t spoken to in a while
  9. Make something tasty and eat it
  10. Do something you ‘never have the time to do’
